What do you do at URS?
My current role involves acting as technical lead for a range of environmental projects and providing local operational support to our office of 220 people. During my time with URS, I’ve had exposure to a range of interesting and challenging projects, been actively involved in business development and operations, and managed large multidisciplinary teams. Most recently, I spent three years in southeast asia, where I managed URS’ Singapore office and led our regional environmental practice.
What are your general responsibilities for the project you are working on?
I am responsible for overall technical and project direction to ensure that URS’ and the client’s needs are met.
What is your favorite aspect of your job?
My favorite aspect is supporting and interacting with multi-disciplinary professionals and delivering our clients with solutions to complex environmental problems.
What attracted you to your area of specialty?
I feel strongly about environmental protection and seek to be part of the solution.
Where did you study?
I received my Bachelor of Applied Science (Environment) at Deakin University and a Master of Environmental Engineering at the University of Melbourne, in Australia. I am currently completing a Master of Environmental Law at the Australian National University.
What brought you to URS?
After spending the first years of my career working in the government sector, I was looking for a new role in an organization that would offer me a greater diversity of professional experience, a commitment to technical mentoring and strong career development opportunities. I found this role within URS.
What is your proudest achievement at URS?
Successfully managing URS’ Singapore operations during the period 2007-08.
What has been your biggest challenge at URS?
My biggest challenge continues to be to seek innovative solutions to complex environmental problems.
What is your favorite thing about working at URS?
Those people whom I’ve been fortunate to work closely with during my time at URS continue to inspire me and have remained a strong attraction for me to stay.
What is your future career goal at URS?
To be increasingly recognized as a leading environmental professional.
